Tongkonan

In addition to the colonial heritage buildings, Indonesia also has a number of custom homes with a unique shape or design. This building is not the work of a master architect of the modern era a myriad of theories. But the creation of a group of people who still love and uphold the traditions handed down by ancestors. And Tongkonan, Tana Torja custom home community in South Sulawesi, is one of them.
Tongkonan does have its own characteristics compared to other custom homes. This house is a house on stilts from wood. The roof is made of bamboo structure covered with black fibers as well as a curved shape like a boat on my stomach, making the house is similar to the Tower House, home or Batak traditional Minang society. The wall is made of wood, well carved with a variety of typical Toraja carvings.Another feature that is most prominent in Tongkonan is buffalo head and horns that curved beautifully arranged on a main bang in front of every house. The number of head of buffalo are there in every house can be different. The more "decoration" is in there, the higher the degree of family who live in it. Therefore. Tongkonan also one tourist attraction Tator and attracted many photo enthusiasts.
