Masjid Agung Palembang

Palembang is not only famous for songketnya pempek or cloth. The city on the banks of the Musi River is also decorated the building with magnificent architecture as seen in the grand mosque in Palembang.Located not far from Plaza Fort Religious Tourism, in Palembang, South Sumatra, Grand Mosque was built when Palembang Palembang is led by Sultan Mahmud Badaruddin I Jayo Wikramo, precisely in 1738. In his day, the mosque is believed to be one of the largest house of worship ever. Although produced by a European architect, the influence of China participated appears on the face of this mosque. It was marked by a pyramid formation and the ornate Chinese on a number of typical roof. Blend the two cultures has become the hallmark of the grand mosque in Palembang and make a lot of travelers in awe. An acculturation can still coexist and complement each other.
