To reach the highest mountain on the island of Java, G. Semeru(3676 m) ~ is most easily reached from the direction of Malang withrising Colt Tumpang majors, then to the village Ranupane (2,200 m)by crossing the village Gubug Klakah (1,100 m) and Ngadas (2,000m) with a truck or Jeep cost Rp. 6,000 to Rp. 10.000, - per person(in 1999).
Ranupane Village (2,100 m) is the last village and place ofinspection as well as post to report for the climbers to ascend, andalso there are climbers huts for overnight and rest. Ranu Pane has apopulation of around 60 people which is a small village, their work ingeneral farming vegetables. In addition there are Ranu (lake) Pane,next to another whose name tendapat ranu Regulo Ranu.
