Why isthis dancecalledSaman?Samandance isoncallbecause it was createdbyaclericnamedSheikhSamanAcehataroundXIVcenturyAD,from theGayo highlands.Initially,this danceisapopular gamecalledPokAne.However,lateradded tothe accompaniment of poemsthat containpraisesto AllahSWT,andaccompaniedalso bya combination ofpat-patof the dancers.At that time,samandancebecomeone of the mediapropaganda.At first,samandanceonly displayedforcertain events,especiallywhen celebrating the anniversary ofthe Great ProphetMuhammadorreferred toProphet Muhammad 'swarning.Typically,Samandanceis shown belowunderMeunasah(a type ofsuraustage).However,over the times,too,Samangrow untilits usebecomesmorefrequent.Now, dancesamandancecan be classifiedasentertainment/performances,becauseperformancesof danceis not boundbytime,certainevents orceremonies.TariSamancan be displayed onevery occasionthat arecrowdsandexcitement,such asbirthday parties, weddingsorother celebrations.Toplace,Samanusually doneinhouse,field,andsome areusingthe stage.TariSamanusually displayedis guidedby a leaderwhois typically called theSheikh.SheikhSamandancersandmustworkwell togetherto createa compactandharmoniousmovement.
